Audition

Many of the classes at HB Studio are open to any student without an audition. Enrollment in the following courses is by audition and/or interview only. Please contact the HB Studio Office at
(212) 675-2370 for further information or to schedule an appointment.

Students are encouraged to trial (pay class rate and participate) or audit (pay reduced audit
rate and do not participate) classes during the remaining weeks of the preceding term.

A $10 nonrefundable audition fee is charged for all scheduled appointments, to be paid in
advance when the audition/interview is booked.

Following is a list of classes for which students are required to audition.

  Open by invitation only, to students who have taken at least two terms of Technique & Scene Study with Mr. Beckett.   No AUDITS permitted.
           
Ruth Berkowitz The Accent Exchange: Series 2: Recitation of Shakespeare and the Classics   Prerequisite is 3 terms of Speech & Voice or Foreign Accent Correction or one term of Pattern Shift with Ms. Berkowitz or invitation only.   Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Winter Term (March 25th). No AUDITS permitted.

  Open to new students by audition (2-3 minute monologue) and returning students by invitation only.   Audition Dates: Fridays, March 9, 16 & 23, 2012. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Aleksey Burago Advanced Theatre Games & Acting Workshop   Open by invitation only, this class is designed for students with extensive previous training with Mr. Burago.   No AUDITS permitted.
           
Robin Christian-McNair Voice Production 2: Linklater Technique & Working with Text   Prerequisite is one term of voice class study with Ms. Christian-McNair or  two terms with another teacher.   Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Winter Term (March 25th). No AUDITS are permitted after the fourth week of the term.
           
Robin Christian-McNair The Joy of Accents   Prerequisite is one term of "pillows" speech class with Ms. Christian-McNair or two terms of IPA speech with another teacher.   Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Winter Term (March 25th). No AUDITS are permitted after the fourth week of the term.

Helen Gallagher Musical Performance   Admission for new students is by TRIAL CLASS ($28) only.   Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Winter Term (March 25th).

Karen Ludwig Scenes from Life: Stories for the Camera   This class is for the intermediate and advanced actor. Open to students with minimum two years class training only.   Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT the class before the end of the Winter Term (March 25th).

Playwriting/Screenwriting Workshop   Open by invitation only, to returning students of Ms. McKee who have completed the assignments from the Playwriting Workshop, demonstrate a high level of commitment and wish to work on projects of their own choosing.   Contact the office for more information.
           
Edward Morehouse Technique & Scene Study   Open to new students by audition only. A contemporary monologue (2-3 minutes) or a rehearsed scene (5 minutes) with partner is required.   Audition Dates: Mondays, March 5, 12 & 19, 2012. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
