Many of the classes at HB Studio are open to any student without an audition. Enrollment in the following courses is by audition and/or interview only. Please contact the HB Studio Office at (212) 675-2370 for further information or to schedule an appointment.

Students are encouraged to trial (pay class rate and participate) or audit (pay reduced audit rate and do not participate) classes during the remaining weeks of the preceding term.

A $10 nonrefundable audition fee is charged for all scheduled appointments, to be paid in advance when the audition/interview is booked.

Following is a list of classes for which students are required to audition.

George Bartenieff Shakespeare and the Essential Tools for Classic Theater   Open to new students by audition only. A Shakespearian monologue (3-5 minute) is required.   Audition Dates: Fridays, August 20 & 27, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Michael Beckett Technique & Scene Study (Sundays @ 1pm)   Open to new students by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Michael Beckett Experimental Class   Open by invitation only, to students who have taken at least two terms of Technique & Scene Study with Mr. Beckett.   No audits permitted.
           
Mark Blum Acting for the Camera   Open to new students by audition only. A monologue (2-3 minute) is required. This class is recommended for intermediate or advanced students.   Audition Dates: TBD. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Jim Boerlin Scene Study (Fridays @ 3pm)   Open to new students by audition only. A monologue (2-3 minute) is required. This class is recommended for intermediate or advanced students.   Audition Dates: Fridays, August 13, 20 & 27, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Aleksey Burago Art of Directing - Advanced   Open to new students by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).

Stage Fencing II   Admission for new students is by audition (TRIAL CLASS, $20) and by invitation for current students.   New students are encouraged to trial the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Donna de Matteo Playwrighting Seminar   Entrance to this seminar is by manuscript submission. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the instructor to return your manuscript.   Call the office for more information.
           
Helen Gallagher Musical Performance   Admission for new students is by TRIAL CLASS ($28) only.   New students are encouraged to trial the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th)
           
Fernando Gambaroni English for Actors   New F-1 students need to schedule an interview, all other interested students may register for this class.   Interview Dates: Thursdays, August 19 & 26, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Sam Groom Acting with the Camera   Open to new students (with previous training and experience) by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit the first class of the Fall Term (September 2nd)
           
Alec Harrington Performance Lab: Acting Shakespeare   Open to new students by audition only. A Shakespearian monologue (3-5 minute) is required.   Audition Dates: Wednesdays, August 18 & 25, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Jack Hofsiss Advanced Directing   Open to new students (who identify primarily as directors) by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit Mr. Hofsiss' class before the end of Summer Term (August 27th)
           
Rasa Allan Kazlas Improvisation II   Admission for new students is by TRIAL CLASS ($20) only.   New students are encouraged to trial the first class of the Fall Term (September 2nd).
           
Louise Lasser Acting Technique   For admission into this class, Ms. Lasser will conduct a group audition.   Audition Dates: Monday, August 23, 2010 and Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Ian Marshall Fight Directing   Open to new students by interview only.   Interview Dates: TBD. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Ann McCormack Musical Theatre Performance Lab   An interview is required of all students.   Interview Dates: Wednesday, August 25 and Thursday, August 26, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Julie McKee Playwriting/Screenwriting Workshop   Open by invitation only, to students of Ms. McKee who have completed the Playwriting Workshop and wish to work on projects of their own choosing.   Call the office for more information.
           
Edward Morehouse Technique II-Scene Study   Prerequisite is Technique I or open to new students by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Edward Morehouse Scene Study - Invitational   Open to new students (with previous training and experience) by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Rochelle Oliver Technique   Open to new students by interview at audit or trial class ($22) only.   New students are encouraged to audit or trial the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Rochelle Oliver Intermediate/Advanced Scene Study   Open to new students by interview at audit only.   New students are encouraged to audit the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Austin Pendleton Advanced Scene Study   Open to new students by audition only. A monologue (2-3 minute) is required. This class is recommended for intermediate or advanced students.   Audition Dates: Wednesday, August 4 & Friday, August 6, 2010. Call the office to schedule an appointment.
           
Lorraine Serabian Technique & Scene Study   Highly motivated students of all levels are welcome into the class for first term of study. Admittance to the class thereafter is by invitation only.   New students are encouraged to audit the class before the end of the Summer Term (August 27th).
           
Lorraine Serabian The Art of Musical Presentation, All Genres   Highly motivated students of all levels are welcome into the class for first term of study.
