Many of the classes at HB Studio are open to any student without an audition. Enrollment in the following courses is by audition and/or interview only. Please contact the HB Studio Office at
(212) 675-2370 for further information or to schedule an appointment.

Students are encouraged to trial (pay class rate and participate) or audit (pay reduced audit
rate and do not participate) classes during the remaining weeks of the preceding term.

A $10 nonrefundable audition fee is charged for all scheduled appointments, to be paid in
advance when the audition/interview is booked.

Following is a list of classes for which students are required to audition.

George Bartenieff	Shakespeare and the Essential Tools for Classic Theater	Open to new students by audition only. A Shakespearian monologue (3-5 minutes) is required.	Audition Dates: Fridays, December 9 & 16, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Michael Beckett	Technique & Scene Study (Sundays @ 1pm)	Open to new students by interview at AUDIT only.	Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT the class before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Michael Beckett	Experimental Class	Open by invitation only, to students who have taken at least two terms of Technique & Scene Study with Mr. Beckett.	No AUDITS permitted.

Ruth Berkowitz	The Accent Exchange: Series 1: Pattern Shift/Advanced Speech	Prerequisite is 3 terms of Speech and Voice or Foreign Accent Correction	Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th). No AUDITS permitted.

Jim Boerlin	Scene Study (Fridays @ 3:30 pm)	Admission by invitation for current or returning students. Open by audition only for new students. A monologue (2-3 minutes) is required.	Audition Dates: Fridays, December 9 & 16, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Aleksey Burago	Advanced Theatre Games & Acting Workshop	Open by invitation only, this class is designed for students with extensive previous training with Mr. Burago.	No AUDITS permitted.

Joseph Daly	Stage Fencing II	Admission for new students is by audition (TRIAL CLASS, $20) and by invitation for current students.	Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Donna de Matteo	Playwrighting Seminar	Entrance to this seminar is by manuscript submission. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the instructor to return your manuscript	Contact the office for more information

Helen Gallagher	Musical Performance	Admission for new students is by TRIAL CLASS ($28) only.	Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Fernando Gambaroni	English for Actors	An interview is required for new F-1 students only.	Interview Dates: Friday, December 9 and Thursday, December 15, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Sam Groom	Acting with the Camera	Open to new students (with previous training and experience) by interview at AUDIT only.	Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT the class before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Alec Harrington	Acting Shakespeare	Open to new students by audition only. A monologue (2-3 minutes) of any style is required.	Audition Dates: Fridays, December 9 & 16 and Sundays, December 11 & 18, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Carl Kissin	Advanced Improvisation	Admission is by invitation only.	Interested students are encouraged to participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Louise Lasser	Acting Technique	Open to new students by audition only.	Audition Dates: Fridays, December 2, 9 & 16, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Karen Ludwig	Scenes from Life: Stories for the Camera	This class is for the intermediate and advanced actor. Open to students with minimum two years class training only.	Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT the class before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Julie McKee	Playwriting/Screenwriting Workshop	Open by invitation only, to returning students of Ms. McKee who have completed the assignments from the Playwriting Workshop, demonstrate a high level of commitment and wish to work on projects of their own choosing. Edward Morehouse	Technique & Scene Study	Prerequisite is Technique I or open to new students by interview at AUDIT only.	Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT the class before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Jill O'Hara	Singing Technique and Vocal Performance	Admission for new students is by interview at AUDIT or TRIAL CLASS ($25) only.	IInterested students are encouraged to AUDIT or participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Austin Pendleton	Advanced Scene Study	Open to new students by audition only. A monologue (2-3 minutes) is required. This class is recommended for intermediate or advanced students.	Audition Dates: Wednesdays, November 23 and December 7, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Ilse Pfeifer	Voice Workshop	Students should bring a picture and resume to the first class and a brief description of their history with voice work and the reason they are interested in the voice workshop class.	Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT or participate in a TRIAL CLASS before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Joshua Popenoe	English Pronunciation for Asian Language Speakers II: Rhythm and Connection/Application	Open to students who have taken the first course, English Pronunciation for Asian Language Speakers I: Vowels and Consonants/Foundation	Interested students are permitted only to AUDIT the last 2 weeks of the Fall Term (December 19th).

Carol Rosenfeld	Scene Study	Audition required of new students; invitation required of continuing students.	Audition Dates: Wednesdays, November 23 & 30 and December 7 & 14, 2011. Call the office to schedule an appointment.

Lorraine Serabian	Technique & Scene Study	Highly motivated students of all levels are welcome into the class for first term of study. Admittance to the class thereafter is by invitation only.	Interested students are encouraged to AUDIT the class before the end of the Fall Term (December 19th).
