Payment

HB Studio accepts cash, credit card (Visa, Discover, MasterCard), personal checks, travelers’ checks, money orders and wire transfers. A fee of $40 is payable for all wire transfers.

We accept credit card payments online and by telephone for class tuition, workshops, F-1 administration fees, Core program and Summer Intensive application fees, script submission fees, products and audition fees only.

Course Fees

Students must register for the entire term. Payment plans are available for all courses which cost $100 or more. A deposit of $100 is due at time of registration, and all payment plans must be paid in full by 1 week after the first class session. For courses which cost less than $100, full payment is due at time of registration. Students paying by wire transfer must provide proof of the transfer within 48 hours of registration.

Audits may not be applied to enrollment fees, and enrollment fees may not be prorated.

Audits

Students are able to audit a course of their choice for $25 (each) during any active term. Each course is able to be audited once; multiple audits of the same course during a single term will not be allowed. For more information, visit Audit a Class.

Late Registration

A student may register for a 10-week course up to three weeks after the term begins as long as there is still space available in the class. The full class fee will apply. For courses that run 5 weeks or less, a student may register only up until the first session of class.

Returned Checks

HB Studio charges a handling fee of $35 (credit card or cash only) for processing returned checks. The fee applies to any check that is not accepted by the bank or institution on which it is drawn, regardless of the reason. If your check is returned more than once, you must pay all fees in full by cash or money order before you will be allowed to attend class or register again. If more than one check is returned, you must make all future payments by cash, money order, or credit card (Visa, Discover or MasterCard).

Discounts

Once payment is made for a term, discounts cannot be combined and cannot be applied retroactively. Discounts such as The Early Bird Discount and Union Discount are valid for Studio Classes only and cannot be applied towards audits, room rentals, books, equipment purchases, the Hagen Core Training, the Hagen Summer Intensive, or the Hagen Teacher’s Lab. The Early Bird Discount can only be applied towards 10-week classes.

Refunds, Withdrawals, Transfers & Credits Policy

For Studio Classes there are no refunds, credits, withdrawals, or transfers as of the first day of class for which you are registered. The Studio will approve and process requests for refunds, credits, withdrawals, and transfers only through the DAY BEFORE your first day of class (24 hours before the first class). Any approved refund will be issued less applicable administrative fees for each course from which you withdraw or transfer after initial registration. Schedule changes must be made by emailing customerservice@hbstudio.org. We do not allow transfers from one term to another, later term. Refunds, when approved by HB, will be credited or issued within 15-30 days after the final confirmation notification is sent.

You must meet the prerequisites for any class or workshop before you register. Upper-Level classes require faculty placement or audition, and certain workshops and classes require an application. You will be dropped from a course if you register without meeting the prerequisites, issued a refund excluding administrative fees.

Programs under The Hagen Institute, Workshops, and Special Programs may have separate policies regarding refunds and/or withdrawals. These policies will be indicated within each program’s enrollment details.

Exceptions

A student may withdraw after the first class for (1) serious illness or (2) military service. To submit a request to the Student Affairs Committee –email: studentaffairs@hbstudio.org. The committee meets once a week to review requests. You must include a medical certificate in the case of illness or induction papers in the case of military service. Written documentation must be received within three weeks of your withdrawal. Specify in your letter the date of the last class attended. Otherwise, consideration for withdrawal will be retroactive only to the date that the Studio receives your request letter. All decisions of the Student Affairs Committee are final. Approved withdrawals are subject to administrative fees.

Scholastic Drops

A teaching artist may determine that the level or format of a class is not appropriate for a particular student. The teaching artist may then request, at his or her discretion, that the student withdraws from the class as a “scholastic drop.” In such a case, the student will receive a refund for the remaining classes or may transfer to another class or level. Teaching artists may also determine whether or not a student should continue in a class from term to term.

Transfers

Transfers requested prior to the first day of class may be made to customerservice@hbstudio.org, with no approval necessary (administrative fees may apply). As of the first day of class, students with an unforeseen conflict may request a transfer to another class at the same level and department as long as there is available space in the class. Transfers after the first class are granted at the discretion of the Student Affairs Committee by writing to studentaffairs@hbstudio.org. Transfers are not allowed past the third week of the term. Administrative fees may  apply for each course transfer made at any point after your initial registration.

Credits

School Account Credits expire one year from the date in which they are issued and may be applied to another class, workshop, audit(s) or auditions, registration fees, space rentals, or merchandise. School Account Credits can not be used to purchase gift certificates.

I can see how solid training has helped on set especially when the director leaves the scene choices up to you. Thanks for my wonderful HB teachers!
