When war threatens to consume their world, the women of Athens band together in a bold act of resistance: they withhold intimacy from their husbands until peace is declared. Lysistrata, Aristophanes’ timeless comedy, brings forward sharp humor, irreverent wit, and a provocative exploration of power, gender, and collective action.
This workshop production reimagines Aristophanes’ classic through the lens of the Women’s March and the halls of U.S. Congress—asking what it takes for voices to be heard and what happens when everyday citizens demand change. Staged with an experimental approach, the production emphasizes discovery, bold choices, and collaboration as the ensemble investigates how ancient satire collides with contemporary politics.
