The Hagen Summer Intensive is:
- A rigorous, fully-integrated 6-week training that probes the practical applications of Uta Hagen’s approach to acting, presented by a faculty of master practitioners
- A direct and in-depth approach, set in a supportive and challenging environment
- An opportunity to strengthen your craft and stretch all aspects of your instrument
The Hagen Summer Intensive is a rigorous, six-week workshop that probes the practical applications of Uta Hagen’s technique as discussed in her seminal book A Challenge for the Actor. Through instruction in acting technique, scene study, script analysis, and technical exercises, Hagen’s “ Six Steps” will become an integral part of your craft. You will leave the Summer Intensive experience as a stronger, more knowledgeable, more confident actor.
Classes meet Monday through Fridays, from 9:00am-5:00pm, over a six week summer cycle.

Auditions
Admission into the Hagen Summer Intensive requires a live audition before teaching artists via online video chat. For your audition, please prepare two contrasting monologues of two-minutes each from contemporary published plays written in the last 50 years. Scheduling your online auditions will be arranged after your application submission is received.
International Students
Students of all nationalities are invited to apply for the Hagen Core Training. HB Studio regularly trains actors from around the world with a significant number of students hailing from across Asia, Europe and South America. International applicants will be required to obtain an F-1 visa to participate. Our International Student Advisors are available to assist you with this process.
