Hagen Core Training is:

Hagen Core Training is a full-time, one-year program designed for actors seeking full immersion in the practice of their craft. Taught over three terms by world-class faculty who are professional artists themselves, this program offers an integrated, progressive curriculum of essential classes derived from Uta Hagen’s core training exercises. Hagen Core Training is a rigorous, engaging, and powerful tool that will elevate your acting skills beyond your imagination.
Classes include Acting Technique, Scene Study, Script Analysis, Stage Movement, Alexander Technique, Voice, and Speech. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 3:30pm over three contiguous terms for a complete classload of 30 hours a week over a total of 32 weeks. You will probe, practice, stretch, risk, fail, play truthfully and find the courage not to settle for cliché or imitation. If you are prepared to train within an immersive creative environment that will be constantly demanding artistic excellence, Hagen Core training is for you.

Admission into Hagen Core Training requires a live audition before teaching artists via online video chat. For your audition, please prepare two contrasting monologues of two-minutes each from contemporary published plays written in the last 50 years. The National College Credit Recommendation Service has evaluated and recommends The Hagen Core Training for college credit transfer as equivalent to 52 credit hours in undergraduate study. International Students
Students of all nationalities are invited to apply for the Hagen Core Training. HB Studio regularly trains actors from around the world with a significant number of students hailing from across Asia, Europe and South America. International applicants will be required to obtain an F-1 visa to participate. Our International Student Advisors are available to assist you with this process.
