Our Real Estate Journey

Bank Street has been a home for generations of HB artists and a place where Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen’s commitment to daily creative practice has taken lasting form. As we prepare for a new home, our responsibility is to carry that legacy forward while creating the conditions for HB Studio to thrive for generations to come.

Our real estate journey has involved careful study and ongoing conversation with the people who teach, study, work, and make art here. Alongside these formal communications, we have had thousands of individual conversations with members of the HB family, neighbors, and others across our city. This page brings together our community updates, Town Hall materials, and public statements so you can follow the process and understand the thinking behind it.

We will continue adding updates as the work progresses. Each item reflects the information available when it was shared; plans and timelines may evolve. Questions and ideas are welcome at ideas@hbstudio.org.
