Teaching Statement:

“In Script Analysis class as part of your Hagen Core Training, you will work on one play and you will have the luxury of time – three semesters – to find your way into the world of the play. By the world of the play, I mean that you will be introduced to the music, the art, and the literature of the period covered. You will learn songs, dances and poems that the characters in the play would be singing, dancing and reciting. You will look at paintings and photographs to help you understand how the people lived – what they wore, how they traveled, how they spoke to one another. With your imagination and memory you will begin to create the memories, dreams and experiences of the characters and you will do this through exercises that I introduce as we go along. I am always fascinated to see how the creativity builds as we progress through the semesters, as you become more familiar with the language and the life of the characters. The class is a journey into another time and place and I hope to guide you through this journey – bringing out your full potential and your joy in discovery.”
