This intensive focuses on one of the most commonly used dialects in the actor’s toolbox, Standard British, and applies it to playing the works of Noël Coward as our practice text. In addition to the signature sounds and intonation patterns of Standard British, topics explored include research and rehearsal techniques, finding freedom and flexibility, and the challenge of accessing emotional life while speaking in an unfamiliar way. All actors will work on a monologue of their choosing from the plays of Noël Coward, which offer rich opportunity for actors to explore the dynamics of verbal action.
