García Landa, Lara

Lara García Landa (she/they) is an up-and-coming queer Mexican actor, director, filmmaker, and fight choreographer based in New York City. Driven by a lifelong passion for physical, narrative-driven storytelling, Lara specializes in collaborative, multi-medium theater and filmmaking that challenges the status quo and explores pressing social issues.

As a movement educator, Lara is a leader in somatic actor training and the youngest certified Lucid Body instructor in the world. She proudly serves as the Program Director for The Lucid Body New York and joins the faculty at HB Studio to teach this transformative psychophysical technique. Complementing her deep background in psychophysical movement, they are an Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) and serve as a Stage Combat Teaching Assistant at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Arte Violenta. Lara’s teaching philosophy bridges physical storytelling and somatic awareness, helping actors tap into deep emotional connection and physical expression.

As a performer, Lara has delivered compelling physical and ensemble performances across New York’s theater and film scenes. Notably, she appeared Off-Broadway with the Soft Brain Theater Company in Puss in Boots: After Dark and The Raven. Her theatrical credits also include Emergence: A Communion (National Black Theatre) and serving on the Queen’s Court as part of the NY Renaissance Faire. On screen, she has starred in independent film productions including The Dead Queen Requests the Honor of your Presence at Dinner (Obluda Films). She frequently channels this performance experience into her work as a freelance fight and intimacy choreographer, private acting coach, and director.

Lara holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater with honors from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where they trained intensively at the Experimental Theatre Wing. Expanding her artistic horizons globally, she also spent a semester studying international performance traditions at NYU Berlin.
