TEACHING STATEMENT:
“At the start of each term I get to know each student individually with the aim of helping him/her progress to the next level in his/her singing ability. At the same time I focus on the overall group in order to build a dynamic which is supportive of that individual development since I believe that the individual supports the group and vice versa. This in turn creates an active class in which the individual works both alone and as part of the group. Practically speaking this manifests in weekly individual work (each student works individually in front of the class) in which we focus on developing vocal technique simultaneous with group work in which the class supports each individual session by participating in group exercises. My overall emphasis is to create an environment that helps students to grow without fear, a concept that I believe can be carried into other areas of artistic life.”
