Nehassaiu deGannes

Nehassaiu deGannes is a multi-hyphenate actor, director, poet, and educator, whose work ranges from the classics to new plays.

Recent credits include the world premieres of Nathan Alan Davis’ THE HIGH GROUND (Arena Stage), Dave Harris’ INCENDIARY (Woolly Mammoth), Simon Godwin’s MUCH ADO (Shakespeare Theatre Co. DC), and MEASURE FOR MEASURE (Shakespeare & Co.), in which she played both“Isabella” and “Pompey.” She appeared Off-B’way in IS GOD IS (Soho Rep) and SEAGULLMACHINE (La Mama), acted in new play workshops with Page 73, Powerhouse Theatre, The Tank, Dixon Place and New Dramatists, has regional credits at Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Cleveland Play House, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Stratford Festival of Canada, and more. Nehassaiu appears in the feature film, EQUAL STANDARD, co-produced by Ice-T, and her debut book-length collection of poetry, MUSIC FOR EXILE, is available where ever you love to buy books!

A graduate of Brown University and Trinity Rep. Conservatory, she has taught widely at colleges and universities and is thrilled to join the HB Studio community.
