SEEKING: STAGE MANAGER for The Tchaikovsky Vignettes

Looking for an organized, fluid and confident guy or gal to work alongside me throughout my residency at HB Studio this fall. I’ll be working on a dance theatre piece set to the music of Tchaikovsky. The ideal candidate is at ease with scheduling and able to call the performances (tentatively Nov 13, 19, 20). Bonus would be if they were passionate about dance.

Seeking charismatic Dancers and Actors who move very well for an upcoming residency at HB Studio, choreographed by Allison Plamondon.

MALE/FEMALE DANCERS: Seeking dancers with stage presence, strong technique and experience in contemporary dance. Acting experience a plus.

MALE/FEMALE ACTORS: Seeking all types (especially character actors) who are connected physically, enjoy exploration and are adept at storytelling through movement.

Auditions  will be held  Tuesday, August 30th  at HB Studio, 120 Bank St. For an audition, please submit pic and res to allisonplamondon@gmail.com 

Please also state preference of afternoon or evening audition time slot. 

PROJECT DATES: Part-time rehearsals begin September 10th, 2016 Performances mid-November (tentatively Nov 13, 19, 20th)

ABOUT THE PROJECT: The Tchaikovsky Vignettes are a series of dance theatre pieces set to the music of Tchaikovsky, using the characters of Anton Chekhov as inspiration.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
For professional performers who desire to return to, or maintain an ongoing relationship with a dynamic and fertile state of learning. The goal: to use the specifics of language, action, subtext, circumstance, and relationships in order to connect with the work at the deepest most personal level. You are encouraged to push boundaries with the aim of building ever more complex characters and situations, allowing and exploring what is powerfully, unexpectedly revealed.

Join us at HB Studio for wine and light refreshments as you learn about volunteering with Reading Partners!

Reading Partners empowers students to succeed in reading and in life by connecting passionate community volunteers to provide one-on-one literacy tutoring. In New York, 8 out 10 fourth graders from low-income families cannot read at grade level. The program delivers a highly effective curriculum that has helped tens of thousands of children master reading comprehension, fluency, and sight-word reading. Reading Partners is currently present in 17 elementary schools throughout New York City, serving 920 students! Find out how you can support the organization as a tutor or otherwise on Friday, May 20th from 4-6pm!

A PAINTED WINDOW catalogues the reunion of two siblings, Josephine and Sylvia, two sisters that long ago used to giggle together late at night, yet now stand worlds apart. It’s a dissection of identity, classism, racism, and the grotesque havoc consumerism, capitalism, and entitlement has wreaked on the American dream. It is a play about family, loss, regret, and the staggering power of fear. But ultimately, at its center, this is a play about love.

The show runs approx. 90 minutes. On the 21st there will be a talkback/Q&A with the cast, director and playwright.

Coyotes, gangsters, a Stripper, and two brothers struggle in a shack in the desert outside Los Vegas.  An Apocalyptic black comedy of life, death and redemption.  

From the acclaimed writer of Orphans, last seen on Broadway with Alec Baldwin and Ben Foster.  Talk-back afterwards with the cast and crew to discuss process of ensemble collaboration in order to bring a new play in front of an audience.

Registration for the Winter term begins November 1st. Winter term will run 10 weeks —
January 9 – March 19, 2017

WINTER TERM SCHOLARSHIP & WORK STUDY APPLICATIONS are now closed. Scholarships support partial enrollment in one studio class. Work Study (Studio Assistant or “SA”) positions support full enrollment in one studio class. Award notifications will be announced November 11. Click here for details.
