For generations, the HB community has been a source of inspiration and connection for the many thousands of talented souls that have come through our doors in the heart of Greenwich Village. Over the past 10 years, HB Studio has hosted an annual benefit to celebrate our theater community and honor esteemed alumni, colleagues and dear friends. This year HB Studio is bringing it all back home, and bringing it back to the process of making theater.
Instead of one big benefit bash this year, throughout the 2016-2017 season, HB will be hosting small benefit performance events in our theater at 124 Bank Street. First up this season is:
An Evening Commemorating the Bard’s 400th Anniversary
DECEMBER 5, 2016 – 7:00PM
HB Playwrights Theater
Starring: Monica Bell, Richard Dent IV, Laura Esterman, Alfredo Narciso, Paul Pryce, Amanda Quaid, Myra Lucretia Taylor and Eric Rausch (piano). Curated by: Alan Pally
The evening will explore Shakespeare’s connection to HB ‘s founders, Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof, while paying tribute to the genius of the Bard and his 400-year legacy. Performed in a warm and welcoming space, you won’t want to miss notable HB alumni and friends performing excerpts from classics such as Twelfth Night, Hamlet and Midsummer Night’s Dream. You also won’t want to miss hearing the voices of Uta Hagen and Paul Robeson as they perform their iconic Othello and Desdemona! The eclectic evening includes an exclusive VIP reception, featuring live jazz, hors d’oeuvres and champagne.
