Rehearsed scenes from the works of Stephen Adly Guirgis are critiqued and developed in class. Scenes will be drawn from selected works such as BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY, OUR LADY OF 121ST STREET, JESUS HOPPED THE A TRAIN, and LITTLE FLOWER OF EAST ORANGE.
In preparation for this workshop, you are encouraged to read the playwright’s plays — any of your choosing — and are invited to bring in a monologue for the first day of class.
Note: As many scenes as time allows will be presented each week, but it is not expected that all participants will present every session. For a deeper dive into the work, the full 10 weeks (Part A & B) are recommended.
