This workshop gives actors language tools to work with heightened text. Topics include the difference between heightened and naturalistic language, structure, rhythm, energy, sound, and clarity. Writers include Shakespeare and Shaw as well as contemporary authors who work with stylized language. We will also explore actioning as a tool to activate heightened text, and the relationships between sound and meaning, and emotion and diction. The aim of technique is freedom in rehearsal and performance.
